a teacher’s favorite moment
While greeting kids into KidsChurch yesterday, a teacher’s favorite moment happened-to ME! A kind, soft spoken young man said to me, “Are you Ms. Graham?” I taught for 1.5 years with my maiden name before getting married nearly 24 year ago. He went on to say some very sweet things about the impact I had on him as a 6th grader. I told him he was about to cause me to cry due to his kind words. Teachers LOVE these moments!
I came home and found the yearbook he would have been in and found him. (the kid with the tiger emoji). It helped me remember his sensitive spirit and was fun to see that remained with him these many years later as a now dad.
I haven’t had an encounter like this for over a decade, it truly was a gift! May we all be reminded sharing the gift of our specific, complementary words even if we feel weird about it is always worth it.
