Summer Reading, an important muscle maintainer!

Each summer our county library system offers a summer reading incentive program for the kids.  In an effort to get my students eyes on pages or listening to great literature, and off screens, I offer an additional cash reward each year.  I was a kid once, money wasn’t as easy to come by, who couldn’t use a little extra cheddar for summer fun?  

Years 1 & 2 were surprisingly slow with few kids wanting the reward $ I was offering.  The 3rd year I doubled the amount and 10 students cashed in.  Aye carumba!  This year the amount was dropped a small amount to keep Eureka in the black.  One month in, a student has already reached his summer reading goal!  Mission accomplished!

Here’s that eager summer reader now with $40 to spend on his upcoming amazing vacation! Hooray!!
